In a letter to the Lok Sabha Speaker, Opposition MPs allege a violation of rules in the conduct of meeting on the Waqf bill

On Tuesday, October 15, 2024, opposition politicians wrote to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla over the "gross violation of parliamentary code of conduct" made by panel chairman Jagdambika Pal during the joint party meeting looking at the Waqf (Amendment) Bill. The members stated that the present "partisan and politically motivated environment" will make it extremely difficult to continue functioning on the Joint Parliamentary Committee. Congress MPs Gaurav Gogoi, Syed Naseer Hussain and Imran Masood, A Raja and M M Abdulla of the DMK, Asaduddin Owaisi, and Kalyan Banerjee have all signed the letter.
