Delhi government imposes ban on firecrackers to combat air pollution


On Monday, October 14, 2024, the Delhi government announced a right-away ban on the manufacture, sale, keeping, and use of firecrackers throughout the city, with effect from January 1, in preparation for an increase in pollution levels as winter draws near. Gopal Rai, the environment minister for Delhi, made the announcement and asked citizens to help the government reduce pollution in the air.
