In response to reports of fake goods substituting anti-cancer treatments, the government may soon require QR codes to be affixed to each container and medication strip sold in India in order to establish a strict system of tracking and tracing.

The minutes of the Drugs Technical Advisory Board (DTAB) meeting indicate that this was suggested in a recent meeting. The Board was informed that dishonest thieves were discovered replacing empty containers of pricey anti-cancer medications with fake ones while working with pharmacies in hospitals.
